What is diffuse redness?

Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness, not discrete areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and it can be hereditary. Laser Genesis will help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.

What does the procedure feel like?

Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure as the laser handpiece is moved back and forth about ½ inch above your skin. You can immediately return to normal activities, utilizing sunscreen if participating in outdoor activities.

How does Laser Genesis work?

By gentle heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth.   Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.

What can I expect before the treatment?

You will not need gel, anesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment. Before the actual Laser Genesis treatment, you will be asked to remove your make-up of moisturizer and, in some cases, you may be asked to shave the area to be treated. Your physician will review and assist with all pre-treatment requirements.

How many treatments will I need?

The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient’s condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your physician.  

What are the possible side effects?

Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your physician for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.

What kind if textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?

Over the course of four to five treatments. Laser Genesis can help restore the skin’s youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven textures caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more creamy, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. What do treatments feel like?

What types of veins can be treated?

The Cutera CoolGlide can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results.   Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your physician will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?

Your doctor will advise you on the best course of action, but many physicians and patients prefer CoolGlide Vein Therapy because there are no painful injections.

What about blood blisters and port wine stains?

Blood blisters or “haemangioma” respond very well to CoolGlide Vein Therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesion who had given up on finding a solution have been overwhelmed by the success of their CoolGlide vascular treatments. Consult your physician for a thorough evaluation.

How many treatments will I need?

Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated.   Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition.

Do the treatments hurt?

Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece.   Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatments, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What happens after the treatment?

Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment.   Patients who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.

What are the possible side effects?

Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin.   These effects typically last for less than 24 hours.   Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur.   Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatments?

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately.   However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24hours after treatments.   The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun.   As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.  

When will I see results?

Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment.   However, your final results may not be apparent for several months.   Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cutera CoolGlide.

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a FDA and Health Canada approved purified protein that is administered to improve the appearance of wrinkles from muscles on your forehead, crow’s feet and between your brows. The product is not only excellent for the wrinkles around the eyes, but is also offered to make a brow lift or to improve the tiny smoker’s lines around the lips.

What can be expected at a BOTOX ® Cosmetic treatment?

In your initial complimentary consultation, the doctor will ask you to make facial expressions that will determine where the BOTOX ® will be administered. Tiny injections of BOTOX ® are administered at the sites of wrinkle formation that will cause the muscles to relax. The result is younger vibrant looking skin while your expressiveness is fully enhanced.

Results can take 2-7 days to take effect and will reach the maximum effect after 2 weeks.

How long does BOTOX ® last?

Visible results usually last 3-4 months. Follow-up treatments around 3-4 months are recommended to maintain the effect on the new rejuvenated skin. After several regular treatments, some people will see the effect last for 5-6 months ; therefore, visits can be spaced out to only 2 visits a year.
